It's love or something

***

This post is for three tiny moments I want to remember.
Nothing special, or super out of the ordinary.
Just little snippets of life.

//one I fall asleep any where, at any time. It's a gift I perfected as a child that Kyle has gotten used to. When this happens, he usually just tucks me in a little tighter, then does homework or watches TV next to snoring, drooly me. The other night, however, he was the one to fall fast asleep on my couch and it was finally my turn to return all those countless times before. I tucked him in with a larger blanket, moved to the other end of the couch to finish my book, and promptly melted into a puddle.
There's just something about him when he's asleep that makes me instantly think he is five years old and all worn out from a day of adventures, you know?

//two Today was a gorgeous day, though the weatherman predicted rain storms, so I decided today we would go outside and frolic (or something.) Shortly after I got to Kyle's house, I was searching for information about a new sandwich shop that should be opening soon when the heavens opened and it started bucketing down rain. That's not too big of a deal, living in the PNW where it rains on a pretty consistent basis, but then thunder started rumbling and that was enough for me to pay attention. I turned away from the computer to see my cute boy kneeling on his bed, elbows resting on the windowsill, happily staring out the open window at the storm. All at once I wanted to perfectly capture this sliver of time, totally regretting leaving all THREE cameras I have out in my car, and scheming on how I could sneakily take a photo with my crappy phone without him noticing. Instead, I just left the computer and knelt down beside him. He wrapped his arms around me and we watched the rain together.

//three We have a tradition of going to the movies every Tuesday, because our local theater has discounted tickets. Our routine is simple: buy our favourite glass bottle sodas from QFC, smuggle them into my purse, head over to the movie theater early to get the seats with the bar, prop our feet up and enjoy the show. Kyle pays for tickets, I pay for soda and candy. I fell asleep today, so I was running late, and since I was meeting him there I didn't have time to stop at the store. Instead, I grabbed two white nectarines out of the fruitbowl on my kitchen counter. When the movie started (Monsters University, for those who were wondering) I reached into my bag and pulled out the nectarines with an apologetic smile. His entire face lit up and quietly exclaimed "Best idea ever!!" We then proceeded to chomp and slurp our overripe fruit, the juice running down our arms, making us beyond sticky and beyond happy.

Testing: 1, 2, 3

I'm trying out a new photo size (see posts below) because I felt they were too small before.
...But now I feel they might be too large.
Too big? Or ya dig?

I retract my previous statement...

I told Mr Kyle about my new plan to just find the "best food" this summer.
You should have seen the look on his face.
"...You mean like every day of our lives?"
So he has requested that we change it back to the original:
Great Burger Hunt of Summer 2013
with an addendum by me that we need another food too.
He agreed, and our Burger Quest now has the addition of... Doughnuts!
(I think National Doughnut Day has me thinking this way)
I mean, what's better than ground beef and fried dough??
Answer: Nothing.

And with that, here are some pictures of our latest trip to our favourite taco truck
before we headed out with some friends to the beach for some s'mores and to look at the bioluminescent algae :)

This Little Lady

My not-so-little sister graduated 8th grade yesterday.
My baby is growing up!
Isn't she a stunner though?
She will take EFY by storm this summer.
Then off to High School. Crazy stuff.

Also, this past weekend my older sister came home, my Mum graduated from college, and my Grammie from Australia surprised us all with a visit.
So much to blog about!
...Or I could take a nap.

Yes, that's what I'll do.

What a cool guy.

Thanks for all the crazy, Daddio.
And willing to be my model when there is
"absolutely perfect light" outside.
And all those endless trips to the mall
when I was 14.
You're pretty okay I guess.
I'll keep you around.

We are going to get fat.

Usually, my friends and I create a summer bucket list of all the things we want to do!
But this summer is going to be different, because Kirs and Elyssa leave for their missions in early July
and Chalise doesn't get home until late July! And let's be real, bucket lists are never fun by yourself.
So this summer, I wanted to make it my goal to find the perfect burger (a la Love Taza//The Rockstar Diaries era)
and my trusty sidekick agreed to tag along.
I was pondering all this last night as I was trying to fall asleep, however, and I started to seriously doubt my plan.
I mean, there is only so much ground beef I can take, you know?
So this has just turned into a "Find the Best Food" kind of a thing.
With categories.
Or something.

Since this started as a Burger Quest, the first place we tried was right here in our little town:
Gourmet Burger.
They just re-opened at a new location, and everyone has been talking about it,
so we decided to check it out.
Boyfriend got the Bacon Cheddar, and I got the Mushroom Swiss,
which is SO out of character for us (it's usually the other way around.)

Mine was not very note worthy.
The mushrooms were too big
and though the truffle mayo was delicious, they were super skimpy.

Kyle's was, in his words, "one of the best burgers" he's ever had.
"Maybe the best."
He's still talking about it.

So we'll probably be back, just for that burger. And the onion rings (oh goodness, so good!)
Plus they serve their water in mason jars with handles and I am a sucker for that sort of thing.

California... Knows how to party...

Back in March, Kyle and I went down to California to shoot a wedding
and I haven't had anywhere to put my pictures until now!
I'm not big on posting photos on facebook, you know?
The wedding was on the Concordia University campus,
with the reception down in Laguna Beach, and it was beautiful.
Now. Photo overload.

**Explanation of some photos:
//1. I pretty much stalked that guy in the hat the whole wedding. He was just so cool! And I love when he noticed me taking pictures of him watching the floating lanterns. He didn't even say anything, he just look straight at the camera, then back to the lanterns. I think that means we're bestfriends now.
//2. The groom, Kyle's friend Josh, wrote a song for the bride at 2am THE DAY OF THE WEDDING. It was so beautiful too. I cried a little bit.
//3. The flower girl was crazy. And hilarious. And totally tackled someone to get that bouquet.
